I NEED YOUR HELP!! Story writing competition ;)

Hi there everyone, finally got my server back(turns out it was a problem with the service WebClient) which means I could finally add a new little feature I've been thinking about. The feature is kind of similar to facebooks like-unlike system, I can now add small thumbs up and thumbs downs for you to press on. When you press the button I can know what you people like and don't like in my posts :D Kind of like mini-polls inside the blog post. So let's try this, do you think the new feature is cool? Pretty neat, huh. I might post the source code for the scripts (just a few lines) if anyone wants it. Oh about the link counter script, it works great :D It is so awesome to be able to monitor which of my links you press and also where you come from (got it to monitor everyone who presses one of the links on facebook or MSN). For example can I see that my last visit was from my link on MSN at 00:14:55 this morning by someone using Internet Explorer(shame on you). I can also see trends like that the links in the photo album on facebook produces a more stable flow of visitors than the link in my facebook status which gives a lot of clicks as soon as it is posted but then slowly fades down. Not very surprising but good to know. But now for something completely different. As I'm blogging I've come across a problem. As my favorite webcomic xkcd.com describes it:

(That comic is totally worth to check out, not to speak of it's blog). But have you got any good ideas about this? Please post them in a comment below, maybe we can finally figure out a good way to do this. One way to use regular smilies is of course to flip them (like this (:). However that looks like the body of a snowman or a mutant eye.. And it doesn't work for this one ;). So if you have any better ideas please share them with the rest of us ;)

From 365 - Whole year

The other day I was thinking about the 365 - whole year project I've got going. And I come to think of that what I'm actually doing is creating a 14.6 seconds long short film (that is if I play the images at 25 frames pr/s). But as you might have seen there are a lot of other people who have done this. A guy even did it for 6 full years, link over here. So I figured out that I should try to make an animation, a short movie made from images from a whole year. The plan was to first find the script for this, film it and pick the 365 best frames which I will then reenact over a one year period. But, and there's always a but. I need your help! I've got no idea of what should go on in this short. So if you've got any idea for this project I would certainly like to hear from you. You will of course be credited for the work when it's released and I might get you a cool prize of some sort. So twist your brains and come up with the best idea possible for a 14.6 seconds short film (As I've used 6 frames already it is actually just 14.36 seconds left, so hurry up and comment!). The only criteria is that I start in the position found in the last 6 pictures (oh and I will of course also take the regular photos along with the action shots). This is your way to fame and fortune (probably not fortune but maybe some local fame) so make it count.

Yesterday I had a pirate near death experience, The Pirate Bay had stopped working! It seems to be okay now though but I thought I should tell you about other options like torrents.to which enables you to search a multiple of torrent tracking sites from one page. Just if it ever happens again, which there is a high possibility that it does as thepiratebay.org is bought after they lost in the Swedish court and have to serve time in prison as well as paying a huge fine. But now for a little question: What do you think of piracy? Should it be legal? Should we try to bring it down? Comment below with your arguments and press up for legalizing it and down for bringing it down:

Don't forget about the competition! Cheers, Peter ;)

P.S: I know that the new layout looks weird, it is just a placeholder. Reason I changed was to be able to post wider images. I'll change to something custom made soon ;)

  3. You should start wearing different hats each day! Don't know how this would qualify as a story but you could think of it representing your travel around the world:D -or Belgium;)

    Some suggestions:

    1) Let the short film tell a story about how you where transfered into a french talking Belgian.

    2) Let the short film portrait different famous Belgian people (for example by wearing the same costume 10 days in a row).

    3) Let the short film show 20-30 important Belgian historic moments (by mimicim them over 15 frames)..

  7. Good ideas, I especially like the last one. It's kind of like "Tre raske menn"s the history of the world in about five minutes. But I might consider to run them at a lower frame rate or take multiple frames per day, 14 seconds is a bit short. Just ask me on MSN, here or facebook ;) Or just read the wikipedia article about the subject, but then again you risk learning something :P

  8. I'm not sure about the time lapse movie, but for the smiley question, you can always use the unicode smiley faces...

    Linux (or BSD ☺)

    (use Alt+1 or Alt+2)

  9. Well you can but there are some problems here. First of not everyone are able to see them (now for example I see the empty square thing). And second you have to use the numbers on your numpad, something which on most lap tops require you to hold the Fn button and press a key on the keyboard. Not much of a problem for most users but as I have changed my keyboard layout to Dvorak the marks for where the numpad keys are supposed to be are placed at random..
